High healthcare costs, social isolation, loneliness, food insecurity, malnutrition and issues related to housing have been prevalent among older adults for decades, but over the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has made these issues even worse. First, West Health’s Shelley Lyford and California’s Department of Aging Kim McCoy Wade for a discussion on how California’s Master Plan for Aging can be a model for the nation. The second half of the event is a group panel led by with West Health’s Tim Lash discussing how fragmented systems of care and community and social support services have left older adults behind, and a robust research and policy discussion about how we can improve experiences by reforming our healthcare system and lowering costs.
