Meet the Founders
Our Story
Gary and Mary West are visionaries and philanthropists who have committed their entire fortune to improving aging and lowering the cost of healthcare in America. In 2006, after selling their stake in the tech-driven communications company they founded, the couple established the Gary and Mary West Foundation and the West Health Institute. The West Health Policy Center in Washington, DC soon followed. These nonprofits work in concert to make successful aging a reality for all Americans and are guided by the innovative, passionate, and entrepreneurial spirit embodied in our founders.
Our Mission
Lower healthcare costs to enable seniors to successfully age in place with access to high-quality, affordable health and support services that preserve and protect their dignity, quality of life, and independence.
Our Approach
Through a combination of outcomes-based funding, applied medical research and public policy, the Gary and Mary West Foundation, the West Health Institute, and West Health Policy Center are dedicated to lowering the cost of healthcare and advancing sustainable, high-quality delivery models with the potential to improve care for seniors and their families.
