Comment Letter: Policies to Increase Drug Pricing Affordability

On August 17, 2026, West Health responded to the Senate Finance Committee Minority Staff’s Request for Information (RFI) on Common Sense Policy Options to Lower Drug Prices for Patients. In our comments utilizing analysis from the West Health – Verdant Research Medicare Negotiation Outcomes Calculator, West Health offered targeted recommendations on priorities most aligned with our mission:

1. Build upon Medicare drug price negotiation and pursue policies that better align drug prices and supply chain incentives with clinical value.
2. Pair patient affordability initiatives with reforms that address the root causes of high prescription drug costs.
3. Strengthen clinical evidence through addressing barriers to older adults’ participation in clinical trials.
