Recently, the Gary and Mary West Health Institute had the pleasure of announcing best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell as the keynote speaker for Health Care Innovation Day (HCI-DC 2014), “Igniting an Interoperable Health Care System,” a conference we’re co-hosting with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) on February 6, at the Omni Shoreham in Washington, D.C.

Many of you may have read The Tipping Point, Blink, Outliers, or Gladwell’s latest book, David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits and the Art of Battling Giants, where he cuts through conventional wisdom and explores unlikely examples of success in order to reach creative solutions to challenging issues.  With interoperability being one of the most challenging issues facing healthcare today, we’re looking forward to hearing his unique perspective on how we can ultimately achieve interoperability and create a smarter healthcare system in the future – one that will bring about enhanced safety and better outcomes.

In addition to Malcom Gladwell, we are pleased to be joined by Karen DeSalvo, MD, ONC’s new National Coordinator for Health IT. We have also secured a great lineup of leading government agency representatives, industry experts and patient advocates who are driving interoperability. Throughout the day-long conference, speakers will participate in innovative panel discussions, special ignite talks and hot topic debates.

As hard as it is to believe, Thursday, February 6 is less than a month away; I hope you’ll take a moment to confirm your attendance on our website. Due to space limitations, registration to this free event is limited to the first 1,200 people who sign-up. Additionally, you’ll find an updated agenda here and list of speakers below:
