Accelerating Scalable Solutions to Transform U.S. Healthcare Through Innovation, Partnership, and Impact

The West Health Accelerator is a strategic initiative that aligns with West Health’s core pillars—improving the cost, quality, and access of healthcare in America. By partnering with leading healthcare institutions, the Accelerator invests in innovative models of care that address some of the most pressing challenges in our healthcare system.

The program currently supports two major initiatives—one with Northwestern Medicine, focused on expanding access to mental healthcare through primary care, and another with Mass General Brigham, dedicated to transforming geriatric care.
These initiatives are designed not only to improve care within their respective health systems but to serve as scalable, national models that can be replicated across the country. With a strong track record of driving meaningful healthcare innovations, West Health is committed to making high-quality, affordable healthcare a reality for all Americans.

This work will be driven by a commitment to measuring impact, advancing technology, training the healthcare workforce, and scaling best practices. The Accelerator will support data collection, reporting, and evaluation to ensure the models deliver measurable improvements in patient outcomes.
By integrating new technologies, optimizing care pathways, and equipping providers with the tools and training needed to deliver high-quality care, we will create sustainable solutions that can be implemented nationwide. Through collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based approaches, West Health is accelerating the transformation of healthcare for all.

West Health Accelerator at Mass General Brigham

Since 2016, the Brigham has been implementing its Superior Treatment of Elders Pathway (STEP) Program, which has successfully improved surgical outcomes and reduced hospital readmissions among older adults, who account for about 40% of all inpatient procedures. Recognizing the program’s power to transform and modernize surgical care and treatment, the West Health accelerator is taking it to the next level with the goal of providing the best possible care to older patients locally while at the same time creating a scalable and evidence-based model that other hospitals and health systems throughout the country may adopt.

Northwestern Medicine West Health Accelerator

The new collaboration between West Health, Northwestern Medicine and Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute will work to provide easier quicker and easier access to evidence-based and comprehensive psychiatric services for patients within primary care practices throughout Northwestern Medicine, expanding access and promoting earlier intervention. It builds upon Northwestern Medicine’s Collaborative Behavioral Health Program which began in 2018.
